Our family shares a huge love for rides. I’m so excited that our kids share the same love of amusements parks and rides as we do, which makes it so much fun for heading to Canada’s Wonderland every year – our favourite destination to get our thrills! This was our second year heading there with the kids and they were so anxious to go back to find out what was new and exciting.
What is Canada’s Wonderland?
It’s really no wonder that Canada’s Wonderland is Canada’s premiere amusement park. It’s where families come to spend quality time with each other and their good friends, g-forces. Only Canada’s premiere amusement park has Leviathan, a new roller coaster in 2012 that boasts speeds of 125 km/h with an 80-degree drop. Canada’s premiere amusement park also features such thrilling rides as Vortex, Shockwave, Behemoth and the 301-foot WindSeeker. And for the kids, there’s Planet Snoopy and the new Dinosaurs Alive! Seven acres of Jurassic fun with over 40 life-sized dinos. And if you like water park thrills, Canada’s premiere amusement park features Splash Works, a 20-acre water park featuring The Plunge, Super Soaker, the Lazy River and enough thrill rides to leave you and your family closer and prunier than ever. It’s what happens here every day at Canada’s premiere amusement park. Canada’s Wonderland. Thrills Connect.
The day couldn’t have been more perfect – warm, sunny weather, happy crowds, new rides, delicious food and fantastic shows. We started early in the morning when the park opened at 10am and had a blast through the whole day until after dinner. Wonder Mountain is, of course, the ideal place to take pictures upon entering the park. With the water and fountains in front of it with the bridge, it’s such a beautiful sight to see when you first walk into the park.
Our first mission was to experience one of the most talked about and new thrill rides of the season – The Guardian. My husband was determined to try it, so we made our way to the far side of the mountain (which, as always, is beautiful!).
The line up was long with other ride-goers who were also anxious to experience the thrills of The Guardian. It didn’t take long for us to reach the front and thankfully, our youngest was JUST tall enough to go on the ride. There’s 4 people to a “car” and you’re equipped with shooters. Lots of 4D screens throughout the almost pitch dark ride, which adds to the intensity and thrills. An unexpected drop made my heart almost stop, but was followed by laughter from all of us. It’s a neat ride that’s very interactive and it’s fun to see who scored the most points at the end from shooting the screens throughout the ride. We think it’s a great addition to all of our favourites at Canada’s Wonderland!
Since the kids are another year older this year, we were able to experience a couple of thrill rides with them that they hadn’t been on before, such as The Guardian and also, Thunder Run. I was worried about what my daughter would think of it, as she’s the youngest, but she was THRILLED. Even the speed and pitch black tunnels didn’t phase her. The kids left that ride wanting more. There’s SO many thrill rides for the “bigger kids”…the older crowd…us!
These are just a few:
- The Bat – has been a favourite of mine for years
- The Vortex – another favourite!
- The Behemoth
- Drop Tower
- Night Mares – my son can’t wait until he’s old enough for this one
- Wild Beast
- AND SO MANY MORE!!
Kidzville & Planet Snoopy
Kidzville and Planet Snoopy are the perfect places for children that are younger. We did so much while we were there and the kids had a blast on every ride we went on. I love the Peanut Characters that are featured throughout this part of the park, and the kids loved getting their picture taken with Snoopy & Sally. This part of the park is colourful, fun and very kid friendly.
These are just some of the rides we enjoyed in Planet Snoopy:
- Boo Blasters on Boo Hill
- Character Carrousel
- Ghoster Coaster – Our family favourite for 2 years in a row! My daughter was SO excited that she was big enough this year to enjoy it too.
- Joe Cool’s Dodgem School – The kids absolutely love the bumper cars every time.
- Lucy’s Tugboat
- Snoopy vs. Red Baron – The kids insisted we do this again this year.
- Snoopy’s Space Race
- Taxi Jam – So much fun and a great “coaster” for little ones.
- Swing Time
There’s many, many more! Those are just a few of our favourites we enjoyed while there.
Not only are there tons of rides to enjoy at Canada’s Wonderland, but lots of entertainment. We really loved the Cirque experience last year, so I was pretty excited to see that there was another show being featured this year, called Dimensions: A Cirque Experience. The performance was amazing, and the performers were even more amazing! You’re left in “awe” of their techniques and execution of the acrobatics they perform. Wow…so talented and so athletic! It’s a must see when you visit Canada’s Wonderland – not to mention the magnificent Wonderland Theatre “castle” that it’s performed inside of.
Dimensions: A Cirque Experience Performance Schedule:
- June 21 – Labour Day
- 3:30 pm, 5:30 pm, 7:30 pm, and additional shows at 2:00 pm on Saturdays and Holidays
- There is NO performances on Wednesdays.
We also enjoyed a performance by the Kinet-X and Victoria Falls High Divers. We’ve enjoyed watching this every year, and every year they continue to amaze us with their dramatic performance high up and down into the water.
Kinet-X Performance Schedule:
- Arthur’s Baye
- June 28 – Labour Day
- 1:30 pm, 3:30 pm, 4:30 pm, & 5:30 pm
Victoria Falls High Divers Schedule:
- Wonder Mountain
- June 28 – Labour Day
- 11:30 am, 12:30 pm, 2:15 pm, & 6:15 pm
You won’t want to miss these amazing performances, and also check out other performances that Canada’s Wonderland also features throughout the season.
If you’re looking for some good food, there’s plenty of food venues set up throughout the park, but we really love The Marketplace International Buffet.
The selection of various foods is amazing!! You can pick and choose from the vast array of foods and desserts available. We were stuffed after leaving there and it’s our go to place for dining as a family. What I really love, is that the chef came out to talk to us and reassure us of what food was served because of our daughter’s peanut allergy. It was really great of him to walk us through what they serve and make sure we felt comfortable. There’s lots of cafes and food venues that will satisfy your cravings throughout the day.
If you’re looking to add something interesting into the day, you can catch the caricature artists that will draw your picture, or the face painting for kids, henna tattoos, and more! There’s also lots of shops for you to pick up souvenirs and other fun items. Canada’s Wonderland has an amazing splash park that you could spend a whole day enjoying! Dinosaurs Alive is really popular and interactive for kids of all ages. Great way to educate them about dinosaurs and life before they were extinct.
We had such a great time and are already planning our trip back. There’s so much to do for the whole family of all ages, which is why it’s our favourite family place for fun and thrills.
