I had the opportunity to try South St. Burger Co. for the first time and really didn’t know what to expect, since we had never been before. I must say, upon driving up to the place, I instantly noticed how fresh, modern and clean it looked from the outside. The inside didn’t disappoint either. A very modern and clean atmosphere, and I love the cafeteria style ordering system where you place your order and then move along with your tray while they prepare your burger right in front of you, allowing you to customize your burger however you like. The toppings are fresh, as is the hamburger meat.
The True North
My husband enjoyed the True North. I must admit, this burger is impressive! It has double cheddar, extra bacon, maple syrup infused onions, and signature sauce. My husband added hot peppers, pickles, and ketchup to his burger. He loved it! It was so delicious, that we just had to bring a True North Burger back home for my dad to try. My husband’s burger behaviour is a bit of heat, messy and loaded. This burger was perfect for him.
The Nacho Burger
I ordered the Nacho Burger which is layered with guacamole, jalepeno sour cream, cheddar cheese, tomato salsa and lettuce all on a beef patty and fresh bun. The taste is unique to the burger and I did enjoy having something different from the usual I might order when it comes to my burgers. The beef patty is really fresh and had so much flavour. Next time, I think I’ll add some dill pickles and onion to add a bit of crunch and texture. My burger behaviour definitely involves crunch, cheese and a little bit on the “neater” side!
I don’t normally eat poutine, but definitely made an exception at South St. Burger. Oh my!! It was exactly how a poutine should be. Crispy fries, savoury gravy and delicious cheese curds slowly melting in with the gravy. It was perfect and I want more just thinking about it! I think the picture says it all…
Also, the onion rings? Wow!! They were amazing. Crispy and cooked perfectly in their chunky coating. I will definitely be ordering those again next time we go. The kids loved them too!
We really enjoyed how everything is made fresh and you can see them making your food. There’s definitely a sense of pride that goes into how they make their burgers, and it really was an enjoyable experience for the whole family. Although it’s a little pricier than what you would usually pay for burgers, it’s well worth it for the quality and uniqueness of the foods they offer. We thoroughly enjoyed our meal, the staff and the atmosphere.
South St. Burger offers a wide selection of options that are sure to suit anyone’s Burger Behaviour. I can’t wait to go back and try a different burger!
