When travelling, one of the most important parts during your travels is dining. Ensuring that you know where to eat and what places will provide you with the upmost experience in dining can make an impact on your overall trip. It can be hard to know which places are the “go-to” for locals, and you don’t want to be disappointed in your dining when it’s something that you’ll likely be doing daily.
I know many people who love to head out of town and even the country to travel and hit up the racetracks and casinos elsewhere. It’s all part of the fun and excitement that they want to experience, as a couple or as a family. The Spotted Horse Tavern and Dining Parlor recently debuted at Evangeline Downs Racetrack Casino Hotel. If you’re looking for the traditional tastes of Louisiana kicked up a notch, then this is the place you’ll want to check out.
The Spotted Horse, inspired by an urban legend of a “long-necked spotted horse” winning the race by a neck, adds another element of your experience at the Evangeline Downs by providing a modern, yet casual dining experience all designed around a beautiful setting and in a convenient location. There is a tavern located on one side where customers can sip on local brew and dine on down-home cuisine, and there’s also a full-service restaurant on the other side. With dining selections consisting of Southern staples, as well as innovative new dishes, there’s something for everyone such as chicken and sausage gumbo, citrus-glazed pork belly and prawns, crawfish and corn bisque to start your meal off. Entrees include Louisiana catfish, country-braised short ribs, and dinner for two selections (beer can chicken for two and certified Angus Beef tenderloin for two. What’s a great meal without dessert? The Spotted Horse has a beautiful dessert menu that offers light and cool berries and cream, and rich and decadent warm bread pudding.
Did I mention that The Spotted Horse has 20 hot sauces to choose from for customers to pair with their dishes? Wow! I know my husband would be all over that and he’d surely be choosing the hottest one he could get, such as the ghost pepper and blueberry.
The Spotted Horse is the latest instalment in an ongoing effort to enhance amenities at Boyd Gaming properties across the country. For more information on this and other projects, visit BoydGaming.com/Amenities.
There are so many reasons why The Spotted Horse is a place you’ll want to see while you’re visiting the Evangeline Downs. With so much to enjoy all in one place, you’ll want to stop by just off I-49 on Creswell Lane to experience premier racing, dining and casino entertainment in the Lafayette area.
