Pete’s Dragon is now available on Digital HD and Blu-ray!
“Pete’s Dragon” is a reimagining of Disney’s cherished family film centered on an orphaned boy named Pete and his best friend Elliot – who just so happens to be a dragon.
I have been waiting anxiously for this film to arrive on Blu-ray because I couldn’t wait to enjoy it with my family at home. It definitely didn’t disappoint. The special effects are pretty impressive and the attention to details, especially in that of the dragon, Elliot, is breathtaking. It’s hard to imagine that such a young boy like Pete could have survived in a forest for so long after the tragedy of losing his parents, but it’s incredible how he’s formed this bond and friendship with a dragon who has been by his side all that time.
There are also some great extras to enjoy on the Blu-ray including:
- Never-before-seen bonus features that include a revealing look at director David Lowery’s personal diary kept during the filming of “Pete’s Dragon”
- The design process behind the lovable dragon, Elliot
- Deleted scenes
- A tour of the film’s breathtaking production location of New Zealand
- Audio commentary by filmmakers and actors
- Hilarious bloopers.
We enjoyed the unique bond between Pete and Elliot, the storyline and the special effects. We also enjoyed the mythical aspect to this film without it being forced or to a point where it’s hard to let yourself believe. I felt they integrated the dragon into the story very well without it seeming too artificial. Overall, it was a great movie that we enjoyed as a family, even though there were some slightly emotional scenes.
Pete’s Dragon is a great gift idea for under the tree or as a stocking stuffer this year! It would make a great family gift so everyone can enjoy spending time with one another watching a family-friendly film.
